yudansha

Kentucky Budo-kan

Yudansha Page

This page is dedicated to the few students who have put forth the extra effort and time required to reach the prestigious rank of Yudansha {Black Belt} in Chito-ryu, one of the most unique systems of karate in existence today.  Acquiring the rank of Yudansha signifies that the student has proven themselves many times over, and  each Yudansha has met the requirements to be signified and recognized at their respective rank level.  Yudansha grade should also identify them as individuals of good honest moral character.

Receiving the rank of Sho-dan (First Degree Black Belt) and above should not be taken lightly.  It bears with it a responsibility to be an example for others to follow not only in the dojo but outside the dojo as well.  We are all being observed, especially those few of us who participate in something as unique as a martial art.  We must constantly maintain awareness of our behavior, our speech, as well as our attitude if we want the general public to accept our art as something truly worth seeking.  Whether we want to be or not, we all serve as an example for others to follow. We must lead by example and live the example .
