CANADIAN CHITO-KAI

Masami Tsuruoka, Hanshi received his Sho-dan in 1949 under Dr. Chitose in Kempo Karate-do (Later to be termed Chito-ryu). He would eventually become the Father of Canadian Karate when he introduced Karate into Canada in 1957. Tsuruoka, Hanshi was the original Founder of the Canadian Chito-kai and is also the founder of the National Karate Association which serves as the governing body for amateur karate competition in Canada. Tsuruoka Sensei now runs his own organization and is no longer affiliated with the International Chito-kai.
