My Martial Arts Training On this page I have listed many of the martial arts teachers that I have had the wonderful opportunity of receiving instruction from and/or trained along side during the past 34 years. As you will notice, not everyone listed is a martial artist in the sense that they practice an art which is considered to be a Chinese, Japanese, Okinawan or Korean art. The military personnel who train and teach the Art of Unconventional Warfare have also, in fact contributed a great deal to my over all martial arts education, therefore I have listed some of them on this page as well. My desire to train with the many people listed here can certainly be largely contributed to my first karate teacher, Mr. George VanHorne. Although Mr. VanHorne did in fact give me the desire to search for and train with the many people listed here, of equal importance is the fact that he also taught me proper etiquette which opened many doors for me that were often closed to others. He also instilled in me the ability to, not only quickly distinguish the difference between quality and non-quality martial artist, but also the ability of easily blend un-obstructively with any art I was studying. I would also like to thank Sensei William J. Dometrich, with whom I have had the honor of training with since I was a teenager as well as having spent a considerable amount of time serving together in the Military Intelligence Section of the 11th Special Forces Group, US Army. Over the years, Dometrich Sensei has furnished me with several letters of recommendation and has made several phone calls on my behalf during my travels. Although I have listed styles and Founder, Student of, etc., beside several of the names listed here, I have listed no titles. Everyone listed here is in fact a teacher and in many instances titles change, therefore I have chosen not to list them. No disrespect is intended by this omission. Other than the first few teachers listed here, no particular order, such as rank, age, time in training, etc, was followed in listing these teachers. Also, I have followed the western custom of listing the teachers with their first name first and their last name second. 1. George VanHorne (My first karate teacher.
