Began study of Karate in 1952
Promoted to Sho Dan 1954
Promoted to Shichi-Dan and granted title "Kyoshi" by O-Sensei 1971
Promoted to Hachi-Dan and granted title "Hanshi" in 1999 by Hanshi Tesshin Hamada (DNBK). Promotion & title received by recommendation of Hanshi Patrick McCarthy due to the request of both Kyoshi George Van Horne & Kyoshi Jim Davenport.

In 1967, Sensei William J. Dometrich and his wife Barbara Dometrich founded The United States Chito-kai.
